Brian Stokes Mitchell
Carnegie Hall Debut Oct. 15,
2007
Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell will take to
the stage of Carnegie Hall for his solo debut on
Oct. 15, in a benefit for the Actors Fund of
America.
Veteran producer and director Richard Jay-Alexander,
who most recently directed Barbra Streisand's North
American and European tours, as well as the Carnegie
Hall debuts of both Bernadette Peters and Lea
Salonga, will direct Mitchell's turn.
Mitchell will perform highlights from his career as
one of Broadway's foremost leading men, as well as
music he has always wanted to perform. Joining
Mitchell for his Carnegie Hall debut will be a few
of his past leading ladies including Reba McEntire
and Phylicia Rashad, The Broadway
Inspirational Voices and others. |

Amsterdam Theater

Jeffrey Wright, and the Broadway Inspirational

People Celebrates 125 Years of The Actors' Fund

The
Broadway Inspirational Voices participated in
the 125th Anniversary Gala of the Actors' Fund. BIV closed the event with Brian Stokes
Mitchell, president of the Actors' Fund, singing a
song written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
A fast-paced, constantly surprising celebration with
dozens of celebrity icons from every aspect of
entertainment and the performing arts. The Actors'
Fund's 125th Anniversary will pay tribute to those
who enrich our society and our culture. People Magazine,
in a lead position, is primary
sponsor. Joining People will be Actors' Fund
President and Tony Award winner

business and past Actors' Fund Medal of Honor

Benefit
The
company members of Wicked
will produce a
benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which
will be held Sept. 25 at the Gershwin Theatre. Ben Vereen, Liza Minnelli, Bebe Neuwirth and many more
are set to perform.
The 8:30 PM concert, which is made possible by the
Nederlander Organization, will feature the talents
of Vereen, Minnelli and Neuwirth as well as Bryan
Batt, Shoshana Bean, Victoria Clark, Charlotte
d'Amboise, Jill Eikenberry, Raul Esparza, Shuler
Hensley, Megan Hilty, Bill Irwin, Brian d'Arcy
James, Isabelle Keating, Adriane Lenox, Terrence
Mann, Rue McClanahan, Michael McElroy, Julia Murney,
Bebe Neuwirth, Kelli O'Hara, Denis O'Hare, David

The
Broadway Inspirational Voices’ soulful sound will resonate for a reason on May
10, 2004. Hosted by Phylicia Rashad, one of the stars of the upcoming
revival of A Raisin in the Sun, members of the esteemed gospel choir will
perform gospel, jazz and the blues with a portion of the proceeds going to
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
The
concert will take place at the exquisite Rootstein Mannequins showroom, located
at 205 West 19th Street. Broadway patrons will enjoy cocktails and
hors d'oeuvres, while delighting in the moving voices of BIV, featuring
members from a variety of Broadway shows. The
evening will also include a silent auction benefiting BC/EFA.
The founder of Broadway Inspirational Voices, Michael McElroy, will take
center stage in a rare performance. Michael’s Broadway credits
include The Wild Party,
Rent, The Who's Tommy, Miss Saigon, Patti Lupone
on Broadway, Hair and The High Rollers Social Pleasure Club.
He was also a featured vocalist on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." Michael is
featured on CD recordings of The Who's Tommy, Blue, Violet,
Thunder Knocking on the Door and Leslie Uggams' upcoming CD project. He
founded the Broadway Gospel Choir in 1994, then established the Broadway
Inspirational Voices in 1999.
